Monday In A Moment #4 | On Inspiration

MONDAY

1 :: Inspiration to Eat Better – My father has always imparted to me that food is fuel. Whatever you put into your body will have an impact on it. Basically stating that if you eat good things, it will do good things for your health. Makes sense right? It’s not always as easy as it sounds though. Processed food is everywhere these days with it’s “already ready already” grab-n-go mentality. Luckily I have awesome friends in my life like Jessica Aiduk & Shawna Meese who are always inspiring me to do better, eat healthier, consume less sugar and more from scratch foods. I always thought I did most things from scratch {way more than the average person}, but these girls put me to shame. J makes homemade mayonnaiselacto-fermented yogurt, sourdough breads, chicken stock, & sauerkraut {just to name a few!}. This past week, we all got together in Otterberg for a sauerkraut making party. It reminded me alot of southern women getting together to can peaches or all the aunts making cream puffs or tortillas. She had me photograph the process for her so she could blog about it. I promise to link to it once it’s posted. Thanks J for teaching us the lacto-fermentation process!

2 :: Shoes that Inspire me to be Active – We are coming upon the sunshine seasons and D and I couldn’t be more ecstatic! We so enjoy being active people and of course new seasons inspire new shoes for certain activities. I would LOVE to have any pair of the following. The running shoes make my tenni-runners look like they were found on the street. I adore the colors! D has always preached to me about how important water shoes are when your diving, and I have finally found my favorite pair. Hiking boots are essential when living in Germany and going out to explore on a weekly basis. Oh split fins… how I dream about you at night along with my scuba certification. Someday!!!   1) Saucony Women’s PowerGrid Kinvara 4 Running Shoe $99.99 2) ASICS Women’s GEL-Kinsei 4 Running Shoe $189.99 3) Body Glove Women’s 3T Barefoot Malibu Water Shoes $49.99  4) Columbia Women’s San Gil Omni Tech Hiking Boot $129.99 5) Atomic Aquatics Split Fins “Smoke on the Water” $289.99.

4 :: Decorating Inspiration – Since we’re going to be having guests in the house this summer I have been inspired to do more decorating. I plan to put up an art installation above the bed in the guest room and I was struggling to figure out how to cut out the shapes I need. I was so psyched this week to learn that the craft shop on Ramstein has a laser cutter! I have missed my resources from the college of architecture at Texas Tech for years now, and it’s amazing when you learn that you have fun tools at your disposal. I don’t know if I’ll manage to get it done in the next two weeks, but it’s a summer project in progress! I can’t wait to post pictures when it’s complete!

5 :: Music that Inspires Creativity – I am a huge soundtrack person. When I was a kid, my father would plop me down in front of the stereo and we’d play guess the movie and guess the composer of the movie. I have found that for me, movie scores transport me to that amazingly productive place in my mind where I can zone out and work. In college at Texas Tech, I would spend hours designing projects  for my studio class to the sound tracks from Pirates of the Carribean, Troy, Braveheart, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Chocolate, etc. The possibilities are endless. My movie score recommendation this week is Hans Zimmer’s King Arthur. I know this movie isn’t exactly a new release so I bring it to light for two reasons 1) Who doesn’t love Hans Zimmer? He did Pirates of the Carribean, The Dark Knight, The DaVinci Code, Sherlock Holmes, Inception, Crimson Tide & The Lion King {I know right?!?!}. This soundtrack is like a combination of the best parts of Pirates & the DaVinci Code. 2) King Arthur is a fantastic film. I don’t know how I managed to miss seeing it in theaters, but I did. I love the brotherhood of the knights and the selfless honor of their journey. So if you haven’t seen it, watch it! Then download the mp3 album from Amazon and you’ll feel like you can clean your whole house in 10 minutes!

6 :: Sneak Peek to Inspire you to book your session! – I had such a fun morning with the Schneider Family last week and here is a sneak peek of what’s coming on the blog next! I can’t wait to edit the rest!

That’s all for this Monday! Hope this inspired you to start your week refreshed and ready to conquer. Don’t forget to come back next week!
