Meet Kirsten

Kirsten Ashley - Abilene Calligrapher - Headshot

HELLO FANTASTIC FRIENDS!

Hi, I’m Kirsten! I am so very glad that you popped in. I like to think of the KACD studio as a place where beautiful things magic their way into existence. Shelves are lined with photography props and boxes of paper and envelopes in every color imaginable. Ink is custom made in any shade including metallics! This is the place where I make your lettering and graphics vision come to life.

Kirsten Ashley Calligraphy and Design will celebrate its five year anniversary this year. I have been perfecting my hand lettering skills since early adolescence, as my mother was a calligrapher herself. The company began in Germany, after I quit my job as an architect in cedar rapids, Iowa to move across the ocean to live with my new husband.

KACD creates beautifully delicate paper details for brides, busy momma’s, party bosses, and other creatives. I take time to finesse all of your soiree invitation accessories so that you do not have to. You can set your worries aside as KACD offers stamp and stuff plus mailing services, allowing you more time to plan other details of your fantastic event.

I delight in offering you quality paper products with a maker’s touch. You can wow your guests with custom escort cards and party favor tags. From invitations to envelopes, from menu’s to programs to chalkboards signage, KACD adds a sense of authenticity and old world charm to your event.

Be sure to contact me to inquire about an estimate for a lettering project. Each client is provided with a step by step overview of the process so you can know what to expect.

Let’s work together soon!

A Little Extra…

I am a voracious reader of both real and audio books (Dresden Files, Codex Alera, Outlander). I don’t see color in the morning without coffee. Challenges motivate me. Photography is how I tell my life story. Puppy therapy is a real thing. I am a ridiculous perfectionist. I’m an old soul at heart. I wrote 116 pages worth of letters to my husband while he was in basic training. I have traveled to more places in Europe than I have in the United States.

Letters always get wax seals. Dinner parties always have place cards (even if you’re just serving breakfast). I have a masters of architecture from Texas Tech University (guns up!!!). Dessert is eaten first whenever possible. I make french macarons at least once a month. My day job is a synthetic environmental designer that creates 3D simulation environments for the B1 bomber.

Cooking is a love language. I’m super easily startled. My favorite colors are rainy day grey-blue and ultramarine blue. I have played the piano since I was three years old. I am not a morning person. My favorite poem is “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley. I am ever in awe of the Lord our God for constantly pursuing his creation with his unfailing love.

I currently live in Abilene, Texas with my husband and our dog Max.
