MONDAY

1 :: Home from the Czech Republic – Last week D and I took a much needed five day vacation to Prague! It has been a bucket list trip of mine for a very long time…. and it did not disappoint! The city provided me with some of my favorite travel photography to date… and hopefully I can share some of it with you before we pack up our life here in Germany. I highly recommend visiting this beautifully ancient city if you live in the area. We decided to bite the bullet and drive the six hour journey, but D and I were pleasantly surprised at how nice the drive was. There are plenty of Esso stations along the way and most of your drive is through Deutschland. Prague is definitely worth the visit for it’s iconic architecture, incredible food, and cultural experiences. Although it was the first country I have visited in quite some time where I didn’t speak ANY of the language… talk about intimidating!

2 :: Fine Mixology – Back in college, my girlfriends and I had girls night every Wednesday. We always had a blast coming up with a new signature drink for the night. Fancy cocktail glasses, syrups, flavored liquors… it was a foodie chemist’s wonderland. Even though college has come and gone, my love for fine mixology has always been ever present. So much so that my Pinterest feed makes me feel like an alcoholic…. it seems as if every third pin suggestion is a mixed cocktail. lol So in the spirit of MIAM, this week’s recipe picks are all about some seriously original mixed drinks. Click on a drink to take you to the corresponding blog! Cheers to you and stay thirsty my friends! 1) La Llorona (The Weeping Woman) | Muy Bueno Cookbook 2) Cranberry Thyme Gin & Tonic | www.acozykitchen.com 3) Pink Champagne Granita with Pomegranate | Made By Mary 4) The Lavender Collins | Buzzfeed.com 5) The White Ginger | The Boys Club 6) Cherry-Chocolate Bourbon Soda | Katie at the Kitchen Door

3 :: Harry Potter Throwback – On our recent road trip to Prague, D and I packed the car full of HP audio books. I realized that I had reread the later books in the series quite often, but had never reread the first HP book. I had forgotten how charming it is packed full of such rich details {so many more than the movie!!} that you feel as if you too are seeing the wizarding world for the first time just like Harry. The audio books have the added bonus of adding the character’s accents, which you don’t normally hear when you are visually reading. Upon returning home after the completion of the first book, D and I have since decided to reread the whole series through audio. Jim Dale, you are one heck of an audio author! Also for you avid HP fans, J.K. Rowling has announced she will release a backstory on Dolores Umbridge on Oct. 31st of this year on Pottermore.com, the perfect treat for Halloween!

4 :: Oleeeeeeeeeee Ole Ole Ole – Well it took three years, but I finally made it to a 1FCK soccer game!!! It was awesome! My favorite part is the spirit of the fans, and the scarves!!! D had been to a game before and brought me a scarf, so I felt like I was a legitimate fan sitting there proudly displaying my red and white loyalty! If you live in the KMC area, this is a must do activity in which the whole family can enjoy! Tickets aren’t very expensive {$25} and you can park at one of the park & ride sites and take the bus directly to the stadium so you don’t have to battle parking! I was super stoked that we tied the game 1:1 at the last possible minute against Dusseldorf. Below you can see the celebratory stadium! SO much spirit!!!

MONDAY

I wanted to thank EVERYONE for their kind birthday wishes yesterday! I’ve decided that being at the end of my 20’s is comforting. Like a worn in sofa you loved through college, knowing that new things are in store, but for now, you’re content to keep what you know and love. It has been such a relaxing weekend around here…. which compliments the overcast weather SO well. I think my favorite part of yesterday was the 90’s playlist lip-sync-off/dance-off between my husband and I that happened in the kitchen while making birthday cupcakes {Italian Cream Cake!! My FAV}. Who knew you could get out of breath lip-syncing to “One Week” by the Barenaked Ladies? D spoiled me so much yesterday, surprising me with the most lovely bouquet of flowers and a present of the sparkly jewelry kind! Can you say husband of the year???

Due to D getting a three day this weekend, plus the birthday festivities, the regular MIAM will return next week! I also want to give a shout out happy birthday to my birthday twins: Evan Flatley, Ted Tudor {84!! Woot!}, Jerome Leach, Calvin Clark and happy anniversary to Adam and Amanda Cramm!

MONDAY

1 :: BIRTHDAY WEEK!!!!This coming Sunday I will turn 29! My my my how time flies… To celebrate D and I will be taking a trip to Prague later in October, which means this weekend will be all about relaxing. AND making Italian Cream Cupcakes!!! Which I will be giving away to everyone I know because D hates coconut and I don’t want to eat every single one all by myself {actually I really do but………}. It’s funny, if you had told me once upon a time 10 years ago {at 19!} that this is where I would be at 29, I would have laughed and called you a liar…. then blinked furiously at you with wide hopeful eyes and asked “Seriously??”. There is so much to be grateful for, and while the loss of my mother is still fresh on days like today, I am reminded that life is truly beautiful and it is up to you to make the most of it!

2 :: Packing Up – At the end of this week we will have around 60 days left in Germany. Um, WHAT?!?! Somehow time has whooshed by….. and I am trying to take it all in stride and NOT PANIC. Due to the packing and appointments that will shortly commence in a frenzy, I will probably be posting less, blogging less, and trying to soak up what remains of our life here in Europe. I will still be photographing everything in sight, it just won’t make it up on the web until after we get to Texas. Who knows, perhaps I will have more time than I expect. I simply don’t want all of you lovely fans out there to feel slighted, gypped, or puzzled at my more absent online presence. Wish me some seriously luck ya’ll, as I know that a huge part of me will forever reside in Germany no matter where we live.

3 :: Soup to warm your Soul – I have been pinning fall flavored soups like crazy on Pinterest! It’s a serendipitous thing, but I figured what better than to share them with you so you can warm your bellies with these savory recipes. I’m huge on food that feeds your soul and there is something about fall flavors that speak to my heart in soft comfortable pear shaped tones. Click on an image to take you to the recipe, and don’t forget to follow my yummay board on Pinterest to never miss a favorite! 1) White Bean and Roasted Mushroom Soup via She Wears Many Hats 2) Pumpkin Soup with Crispy Sage via FoodieCrush 3) Creamy Chicken and Corn Chowder via Cooking Classy 4) Brie + Cheddar Apple Beer Soup with Cinnamon Pecan Oat Crumble via Half Baked Harvest 5) Slow Cooker Apple Cider Beef Stew via Baked By Rachel 6) Roasted Sweet Potato Chipotle Soup with Bacon Bits via Boulder Locavore

4 :: Riding Boots Galore – Last week was all about the shortie booties, so this week I wanted to dive headlong into riding boots, MY FAVORITE!!! There’s just something about wearing them that is SO very comfortable and still makes me feel like Miss Fancy Pants. Usually I only pick six favorites to show you but because I can’t decide, this week you get eight of the most lovely riding boots you’ll ever see. Even though I could never own a pair of the Burberry boots, a girl can dream {& drool} right? Some of these are even on SALE right now! 5 :: Weekly Studio Recap – Here is what you missed in the studio last week! It was a busy week, so only four posts made it up, but I was super excited about the Happiness Through My Eyes blog post on KAPD Bespoke Wedding Calligraphy!! 6 :: Last Photography Session in Germany – I can hardly believe that I had my last photo session here in Germany this past weekend! It was extra special because I have worked with the Barron Family several times for both design work and photography. I was overjoyed with the idea that they wanted to wear traditional lederhosen and dirndls!! How fitting for my last shoot in Deutschland! We had such a blast and I can hardly wait to finish editing their session! Look for their sneak peek on the blog soon!

MONDAY

1 :: “She believed she could, so she did” – Seriously. This quote is singing from my heart these days. I don’t know if it’s the time of year, or the fact that things are changing rapidly, but I am constantly surrounded by creative inspiration. Like it’s about to burst from my heart. I am closing a great many projects these days as D and I are continually getting ready to pack up or lives here… and there is a great sense of accomplishment at being able to check off everything on your list. I also want to thank those awesome girlfriends out there that have been a source of awesome steady creative conversations… for allowing me to discuss the possibilities of what could be for KAPD and for being a never ending sounding board for my crazy BIG ideas!

2 :: September’s Happiness – The around the world blog circle I am a part of will be posting “Happiness Through My Eyes” for the month of September this week. I am so excited as this month’s happiness for me was primarily focused on some seriously awesome wedding save-the-dates! Get a glimpse inside the process of what I do in the design half of KAPD, debuting of the 1st of October! There is some beautiful brush calligraphy and lettering headed your way!

3 :: Booties Booties Booties! – I have been drawn to those cute little ankle rise boots lately like they have an irresistible magnetic pull! If only I had the courage to wear the ones with heel on our treacherous cobblestone… {No thank you, Germany. I don’t want to fall and break my face!} But for those of you who do not have to constantly battle with tripping over your own two feet, check out these beauties! Click on a shoe to take you shopping at Nordstrom.com! 1) Vince Camuto – ‘Elvin’ Bootie – $138.95 2) MICHAEL Michael Kors – ‘Mavis’ Leather Pump – $224.95 3) Timberland – Earthkeepers® ‘Amston’ Wedge Boot – $139.95 4) Vince Camuto – ‘Vala’ Bootie (Nordstrom Exclusive) – $138.95 5) Sam Edelman – ‘Julian’ Suede Bootie – Orig: $149.95 SALE: $119.90 6) kate spade new york – ‘lanise’ leather boot – $350.00

4 :: Weekly Studio Recap – Sorry for the MIAM hiatus recently! In bringing many projects to a close, there have been some intense deadlines as I go the extra mile for all of my wonderful clients! So here is an update of the daily goings on in the studio for the past several weeks! If you enjoy these images, be sure to follow me on Instagram, so you will never miss a daily post!

5 :: Beautiful Florals – So recently, my homework for the Christina Greve workshop was centered around florals. I thought I’d share a bit of what’s going on in the studio as I grow my creative process and continue down the journey of discovering my style. After spending some time in France, I was able to pick up some gorgeous hydrangeas to bring home and play! I also managed to pick up some delightful props that will be making their appearance sporadically over the next couple of months. This class has been a constant inspiration to find beauty in the most random places!

MONDAY

1 :: 90 Days Out – So D mentioned in passing the other day that we only have about 90 days left in Germany. I blanched. Seriously? 90 days? THAT’S IT?! There is a huge part of me that formed a “already out of Germany” mindset as soon as we found out we are headed back to Texas. We may still be living in Europe, but my brain is completely elsewhere. And I hate that. The next three months are going to FLY by and I really don’t want to take forgranted the time that we have left here. So I am doing what I can to live in the now, and make extraordinary memories even though we are getting ready to pack up our life here. I encourage everyone to cut themselves a slice of this life adjustment because as cliche as it is, life really is too short. Take a moment to revel in this time period in your life, the age your kids are at, where your siblings are in their lives, your parents, etc. It will never be the same again.

2 :: Make it Tonight! – These yummay pinterest picks were chosen based on there easy to throw together ingredients. 5 :: Wine Fest Season – As mentioned a couple Monday’s ago, we are officially in wine festival season here in Germany! D and I took a road trip this past weekend to the Bernkastel-Kues Festival, one of our yearly favorites! The last time we went, we were with our dear friends, Tony and Jen {getting married April 2015!!}, and suffice to say they were dearly missed. I had forgotten though, how beautiful the Mosel valley is. Holy wine vineyards Batman! They are all you can see along the ridge slope as far as you eyes can see! Bernkastel-Kues is such a quintessential quaint German town, with lots of timer patterned architecture, dirndls and lederhosen, a castle, and insanely gorgeous scenery that doesn’t look real! The fest had all of the local vineyards sampling their best Rieslings both Spätlese and Auslese, trocken and halbtrocken…. D and I came home with three bottles, the best being a 2005 Auselese from the Mosel Valley. YUM! So I thought I’d share a little insight into our adventures from Saturday. Enjoy!

MONDAY

1 :: Happy Labor Day! –  This week’s MIAM is short due to the holiday weekend. I hope that you all aroud out traveling and doing amazingly fun things today with family and friends! I am trying to spend more time with my husband and balance out work/family time {the ever challenging battle, right?} and some weeks it proves more difficult to wrestle than others. So I’m putting down the blogging, even for-going this month’s Happiness Through My Eyes {to return with a vengeance at the end of September!}, and spending more quality time with the people I care about. Only four months left in Germany!

2 :: Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Science EVERCalling all chocolate chip cookie lovers everywhere!!! This article is SERIOUSLY note worthy! Usually you run across a million-bazillion chocolate chip cookie recipes on Pinterest… but you can’t ever get them to look as perfect as the picture…. WHY IS THAT? Well wonder no longer… for the The Ultimate Guide to Chocolate Chip Cookies is here!!! Join cook book author Tessa Arias, as she dives into the science behind the ingredients of a chocolate chip cookie. I’m a total culinary nerd always wondering “why my cookies turned out too flat ?!?!?”… “Does freezing the dough really make a differenc?” … “How do I make them ooey-gooey and still hold their shape?!?!” and lastly “How do you DO IT Otis Spunkmeyer??!” Well this article answers them all {except maybe the Otis Spunkmeyer one!} and really gives you a great understanding of the chemical properties of each ingredient! There’s even a Part II, Part III, and Part IV, where she tests things like bread flour, crisco, and all brown sugar as well as different baking pans, health restriction ingredients and creamation processes! You had better believe I poured over this article for HOURS. Definitely worth a looksie.

1 :: Winding Down – As D and I are winding down are time living abroad, we are trying to fit in a couple last traveling hurrah’s in before December. Let me tell you how hard it is to pick where to go…. The phrase “If you could go anywhere, where would you go??” grates on my nerves like waiting to be called on to give a final presentation… ALL in German. How on earth do you choose? Because I want to make sure I’m picking something worth it for the cost and realizing we won’t be back overseas for a while, I want it to be the “right one”. Funny thing is, there is no “right one”. We’ll just have to pick and enjoy it. Currently the top contenders are Prague, Croatia, and Italy. Wish me luck!

2 :: First Day Of School – For a lot of you out there *cough* baby brother *cough* today marks the first day of school for the 2014-2015 school year! I can’t believe how fast this summer flew by… Is it weird that I want to go out and stock up on school supplies? Brand new markers and pencils and brightly colored cardstock… Heck I even want scotch tape and post-its {yes, I’m a total nerd}. I always loved this time of year with new beginnings and the promise of awesome classes and football season. So happy first day of school everyone!!!

3 :: My Food Cravings – It’s the in-between-seasons time of year where I can’t decide if I want fresh summer cuisine or warm fall comfort food…. So this week I opted for a little bit of both. 6 :: Challenge? Accomplished! – All through the months of July and August this summer I have been working to complete the Christina Greve Photo Challenge. I am super psyched because this is the first challenge I have completed and I love the results! Some of the words were REALLY challenging… and I was surprised that the ones I found to be the most difficult were Yellow, Sunshine {thanks Germany}, Peaceful, Fluffy Clouds, & Picnic. It was extremely rewarding to interact with all of the folks who also entered the challenge. Everyone interprets the prompts differently and I truly enjoyed seeing all of the lovely photos! Some of my favorite entries were posted by @rubirroja @danielle_merrick @jayjenz @annabolsch @evaskubla @annah20022 & @petrinavdmeer. I wish all of the folks that entered the best of luck!! – To Christina GreveThanks SO much for hosting this challenge… It really was an awesome way to spend the best summer months hunting for the perfect capture for every prompt! It would be such an honor to learn from you and have a chance at working with someone whom I respect and admire! – The images below represent the following prompts reading from right to left: 1) Seaside Memories 2) Gentle Breeze 3) Aromatic 4) Strawberry 5) Red-Hot 6) Giggle 7) Heartwarming 8) Eggshell 9) Ice Cream 10) Rosebud 11) Vintage Blue 12) Charming 13) Exquisite Details 14) Peaceful 15) Location 16) Whimsical 17) Picnic 18) Sunshine 19) Wellness 20) Pure 21) Playful 22) Jumping 23) Watermelon 24) Yellow 25) Laundry 26) Fluffy Clouds 27) Country 28) Free Spirit 29) Soul Mate 30) Romantic

1 :: Baby it’s cold outside – Seriously… what the heck? It’s the middle of August and yesterday I wore leggings, boots, a long sleeve shirt, coat and scarf. WOW. I get the feeling all in all that the seasons are changing for good this year… and super early. I am not a happy camper. While fall is my favorite season, this year I’m not ready to give up those long warm summer days full of endless wonder. Hopefully we’ll get a blast of warmth before August is over!

2 :: Just Yummy – I’ve been in a cooking rut lately… with my husband getting in shape for his PT test, we’ve be relatively boring in the food department. I’ve tried to spice it up as much as I can, but there are only so many ways you can make chicken, tilapia, and rice without adding too much salt or extra ingredients. So this week’s recipe picks are what I’m constantly dreaming of in my head and either haven’t tried or can’t try until next week. Enjoy! Don’t forget to follow my Yummay board on pinterest to catch all of the awesome recipe picks! 1) Sundried Tomato, Artichoke and Hummus Tartines via the Law Student’s Wife 2) Beet Risotto via The Law Student’s Wife 3) Summer Squash Soup with Herb Seeded Crispbread via With Food + Love 4) The Best and Easiest Homemade Salted Caramel Sauce via Avery Cooks 5) Sesame Chicken Potstickers via Damn Delicious 6) Teriyaki Salmon with Sriracha Cream Sauce via Damn Delicious

1 :: Work Day – I have a shoot today with the awesome Savanna Hoyle, so today’s MIAM will be short and sweet! There is just too much prep work involved to put out a full fledged MIAM. Hopefully you’ll still get some Monday cheer to help you push through your day!

3 :: Watermelon Feta Mint AppetizersOH yeah. This happened in my kitchen this morning. Inspired by the prompt “Watermelon” for the #christinagrevephotochallenge, I really wanted a fun clean editorial foodie setup. Especially since I don’t have kids to photograph… {Watching little ones engorge themselves on this juicy summertime treat makes my heart so happy!} For those of you who want to make this tasty fresh appetizer that will broaden your foodie pallet horizons, all you need is cubed watermelon, a melon baller {to scoop out holes}, feta, finely chopped mint, balsamic vinaigrette, sea salt and fresh cracked pepper. Mix all of the ingredients minus the watermelon in a bowl. Use the melon baller to scoop out holes in the watermelon cubes. Fill the holes with the prepared filling. Finally drizzle with balsamic vinaigrette! Viola! Hello tasty summer appetizer!

MONDAY

1 :: Homeward Bound – At long last we finally received word on where we are moving for the year 2015! Drum roll please….. …. …. …. We are moving to ABILENE, TEXAS!! Who would have thought? After three long years of being over 5000 miles from home we will move three hours away from Garland. My brain simply cannot process this information! Not to mention the fact that my husband and I have only experienced our marriage living abroad, never living in the good ‘ole US of A. We have never had simple conversations like, what kind of delivery pizza would you like, papa johns or domino’s? or Where do you want to go to the store, Kroger or Whole Foods? There is a whole new chapter of our life racing our way and the best part is? We’ll be home for Christmas this year! Stay tuned for more details…

2 :: No More Bookings – In line with our moving day news, I am making the official announcement that I am no longer taking new clients for the year 2014. With all of the PCS paperwork, packing, housing closeouts and more, my time is extremely limited and my calender is booked through December 1st!  I want to thank everyone for letting me be a part of this outstanding community full of talented photographers and amazing clients.

3 :: Ode to Kate Spade – Browsing through the new arrivals at Norstrom shoes, I found myself choosing Kate Spade design after Kate Spade design… and figured why not? She’s awesome… she deserves her own MIAM shoe pick shoutout. Without further ado, I give you Kate Spade New York… how I love her so! 6 :: Giggles – D and I had the pleasure of babysitting are two favorite monkeys this past weekend and I still can’t believe how much the girls have grown. S was particularly giggly that day and I was enthusiastically trailing after her with a camera to capture the joy. The one to the far right is my favorite…. her laugh is absolutely infectious!
