In honor of my birthday this week, I am introducing the KAPD freebie of the month! The idea struck me as I was on my iphone {still rocking the 4s} and I realized that I have had the same lock screen wallpaper for the past THREE years. How lame and unacceptable is that?? I really wanted to update it to something new and fresh…. and possibly seasonal…. being the graphic designer that I am, I thought “Why not create something awesome for KAPD? and make it FREE for EVERYONE?!?!?”. Yep. Freaking fantastic.

So if you love the calligraphy stylings and photographs of KAPD, you can now update your lock screen wallpaper EVERY month with the KAPD freebie of the month! Want more great news? This single file download is compatible with practically ANY device! {Seriously awesome, right?} You can use it for you iPad, iPad Mini, iphone 4, 5, 6, & even 6 plus!!! It even works for Android phones!

1 :: “She believed she could, so she did” – Seriously. This quote is singing from my heart these days. I don’t know if it’s the time of year, or the fact that things are changing rapidly, but I am constantly surrounded by creative inspiration. Like it’s about to burst from my heart. I am closing a great many projects these days as D and I are continually getting ready to pack up or lives here… and there is a great sense of accomplishment at being able to check off everything on your list. I also want to thank those awesome girlfriends out there that have been a source of awesome steady creative conversations… for allowing me to discuss the possibilities of what could be for KAPD and for being a never ending sounding board for my crazy BIG ideas!

2 :: September’s Happiness – The around the world blog circle I am a part of will be posting “Happiness Through My Eyes” for the month of September this week. I am so excited as this month’s happiness for me was primarily focused on some seriously awesome wedding save-the-dates! Get a glimpse inside the process of what I do in the design half of KAPD, debuting of the 1st of October! There is some beautiful brush calligraphy and lettering headed your way!

3 :: Booties Booties Booties! – I have been drawn to those cute little ankle rise boots lately like they have an irresistible magnetic pull! If only I had the courage to wear the ones with heel on our treacherous cobblestone… {No thank you, Germany. I don’t want to fall and break my face!} But for those of you who do not have to constantly battle with tripping over your own two feet, check out these beauties! 4 :: Weekly Studio Recap – Sorry for the MIAM hiatus recently! In bringing many projects to a close, there have been some intense deadlines as I go the extra mile for all of my wonderful clients! So here is an update of the daily goings on in the studio for the past several weeks! If you enjoy these images, be sure to follow me on Instagram, so you will never miss a daily post!

5 :: Beautiful Florals – So recently, my homework for the Christina Greve workshop was centered around florals. I thought I’d share a bit of what’s going on in the studio as I grow my creative process and continue down the journey of discovering my style. After spending some time in France, I was able to pick up some gorgeous hydrangeas to bring home and play! I also managed to pick up some delightful props that will be making their appearance sporadically over the next couple of months. This class has been a constant inspiration to find beauty in the most random places!

MONDAY

1 :: Wedding Season is Upon Us – Everyone I know in the bridal industry is already stretching their muscles for the long sprint to the end of summer as wedding season has begun! My instagram feed is full of flower arrangments, dresses, photographers, and venues alike. As I was a June bride myself, I get giddy when I think of other girls planning their own special day. Yes, if you’re a control freak like me if you try to do too much it does feel overwhelming. My biggest advice is to outsource anything and everything you can to people you trust with tasks that suit their strengths. Utilize your bridal party and close family and friends that you know will be in attendance. Trust me, the last thing you want to be worrying about as you enter your reception is “Where did the straight glass vases for the bridesmaids bouquets disappear to?” while your brand new husband is desperately trying to get you to forget about it and look at all the joy around you. So tuck in as I highlight some of my wedding favorites this year!

2 :: THE shoes – If you love shoes and your wedding footwear is to be the creme de la creme, then shopping the Nordstrom bridal boutique is for you! My jaw dropped as I scrolled through the options. Whatever your price range, from Manolo Blaniks to Nina, they have you covered. I could easily recommend beautiful magical stiletto heels, but this week I am going to recommend options for the outdoor bride. Having that stiletto ruined in mud and grass is NOT ideal, so lets look at some other possibilities shall we? If you do go with heels, Nordstrom makes these handy dandy “heel protectors” in a variety of colors so that those points don’t sink into the ground. GENIUS. Click on a shoe to take you shopping at Nordstrom & Etsy! 1) David Tutera – ‘Blue’ Wedge – $118.95 2) Etsy – Navy Blue Wedding Shoes/Ballet Flats with Ivory Lace – $67.00 3) Sarah Jessica Parker – ‘Bobbie’ Sandal (Nordstrom Exclusive) – $365.00 4) Betsey Johnson – Blue ‘Gown’ Sandal – Was: $129.95 SALE: $97.46 5) Jimmy Choo – ‘Kole’ Sandal – $1,595.00 6) Nina – ‘Emma’ Crystal Embellished Ankle Strap Pump (Online Exclusive) – $118.95 7) David Tutera – ‘Winter’ Wedge Sandal (Online Only) – $164.95

3 :: just CAKE – OMG, the cake. Seriously it’s my favorite part about any wedding. I say, try to do what you can to have an outstanding tasting cake that also looks beautiful {trust me your guests will thank you}. Sounds impossible right? Not so much. Do you due diligence with cake tastings. Do you research and find vendors in your area that have what you are looking for and make an appointment. Destination wedding? I highly recommend you plan a trip to the location just to do vendor recon. Have family in the area with great taste palettes? Fantastic. Have them  attend your cake tasting appointment for you. Trust me, they won’t mind, for who doesn’t love free cake? I’ll have you know that my father and brother did my cake tasting for me and managed to locate the BEST vendor in town that suited my needs. When I was able to come home from Germany, we went back to discuss the final details such as flavors and design. So here are my top cake design picks for this wedding season!

5 :: Stay Organized – Just another tip… stay as organized as possible. Newly engaged? March your cute butt down to an office supply store and pick up a binder and a set of twelve tabs. Choose the things that are the most important to you, your main priorities. Where do you want to spend the bulk of your budget? These categories get a tab of their own. Here was my list: Chapel {or church}, Reception, Cake, Shoes, Dress, Flowers, Photography, Invitations, Save-the-Dates, Rehearsal Dinner, Bridesmaids, Groomsmen, Transportation, & Honeymoon. Also, utilize Pinterest!!!!! This social media platform has revolutionized the way brides can view the vendors in the wedding industry. Binders not your thing? Create a board for every high priority topic and pin your little heart out. Need insipiration? My wedding boards are still up and running… feel free to take a look! MONDAY

1 :: Not So Overwhelmed – Remember last week how I thought I’d be ridiculously exhausted come today? Well shocker of all surprises, today has begun with a huge tidal wave of carpe diem. Probably because everything caught up with me yesterday and  I spent the day in an out-of-it fog curled up with “The Help” all afternoon. D starts ALS this week and I couldn’t be more excited to finally have time to finish a bunch of projects. I am also exactly one month away from welcoming my baby brother into this beautiful country for SIX WEEKS! Which means plenty of time will be devoted to cleaning and prepping for the most amazing Tudor sibling adventures to date! Even though the weather is a bit overcast today, there’s a cool breeze and the smell of rain wafting into the apartment and I feel more blissful than I have in recent memory. In other words, “Es ist alles gut!” or “It’s all good!”.

2 :: More Sunday Shopping – D and I finally hit the outlet mall in Zweibrucken yesterday when the shops were open! Holy ridiculous crowds of people Batman. I felt bad for the folks running the stores against the herds of different nationalities. It’s strange as I am a seasoned professional when it comes to Black Friday shopping in the states… but I’m just out of practice I suppose. Nor did I expect it to be THAT packed. The good news is that we found a shoe store that carries D’s shoe size in more than one style! Yep, I married a man with a size 15 foot {Size 50 in Germany}.  Poor kid has never had a traditional shoe shopping experience. I always thought that you simply walked into the store, asked for your size, and they brought out the styles to you. Not for D. He’s usually met with shocked expressions and shaking heads as in “This countries largest shoe size is a 46.” Then we walk away sadly, me in crazy bewilderment that they just don’t make his size. So imagine his excitement as we found an entire wall of shoes in his size at Lloyd’s. He looked like a 10 year old in a candy store with three week’s worth of allowance to burn. All in all, the trip was definitely worth it to see inside all of the amazing clothing stores {and Le Creuset!} but beware that Sunday shopping is chock full of folks!

3 :: Break Out the Grill – This past week D and I were invited to a bring your own toppings grilled pizza night. WHAT. A. GENIUS. IDEA. J has always been the queen of grilled pizza {check out her blog post} and it’s always one of my most favorite dinner options at her house. It makes me wish we were allowed to have a tiny grill on the balcony of our apartment, but alas it’s a no go. In the spirit of breaking out the grill and getting the warmer season started in style, this week’s Pinterest food picks are all about grilled pizza combinations! Because I’m a foodie, I love the weird combinations… veggie, vegan, cauliflower crust? you bet! {Poor D…} If you have not tried grilled pizza I HIGHLY recommend you try it for dinner one night this week. J discovered that if you make mini pizzas {one for each individual} then you can custom make a smaller serving size and try more pizza options! The mini’s are also much easier to transfer to the grill! So start your grills ladies and gentlemen, because grilled pizza season is here! Don’t forget to follow me on Pinterest and never miss a Yummay recipe! 1) Jalapeno Popper Pizza 2) Grilled Goat Cheese and Pesto Pizza  3) Grilled Barbecue Chicken Pizza 4) Grilled Pizza Dough with Veggies and Almond “Ricotta” 5) Pizza Margherita 6) Lobster Grilled Pizza

4 :: The Ankle Cuff – I always like to see what’s trending in the shoe world. This week I’m highlighting the ankle cuff sandal. I’m a sucker for the ankle strap shoe, and this latest take on the traditional style is fascinating. In the design world, shiny gold is also trending, spreading like wildfire from notecards, to brands, to shoe embellishments. Paired together is a style I’d love to wear on the shores of Monte Carlo. Click on a shoe to take you shopping online at Nordstrom! 1) Sam Edelman  -‘Dustin’ Pump – $129.95 2) Topshop – ‘Malibu’ Sandal – $230.00 3) Ivanka Trump – ‘Gelana’ Suede Sandal – $129.95 4) Topshop – ‘Rio de Janeiro’ Sandal – $230.00 5) Kendall & Kylie Madden Girl – ‘Backupp’ Ankle Cuff Sandal – Orig: $69.95 SALE: $46.87 6) Saint Laurent – ‘Jane’ Studded Sandal – $995.00

5 :: Hanging by a Wire – D and I went zip-lining in the black forest this weekend for his birthday!!! We both agree it was right up there with going hawking in Ireland last year. There’s something about flying from a wire 83 meters above the ground through breathtaking forest scenery that you’ll never forget. It was beyond amazing… surpassed awesome… and satisfied my extreme sports junkie of a husband! Talk about a win/win! If you live in the Kaiserslautern area, you NEED to head down to the black forest and check out Hirschgrund ziplining. It’s completely affordable and worth the 2.5 hour drive! More photos coming soon, but I leave you with this one to start you week off right and remind you to be brave and just go for it!

MONDAY

1 :: Life Runneth Over – This week is jam packed. Seriously. It’s one of those week’s where I’ve made up my schedule bright and early Monday morning for the rest of the week, and I just cringe. The saddest part is that everything going on this week is SUPER exciting and fun. I just realize that this time next week I’m going to need some serious R&R. That also means today’s MIAM is going to be short and sweet, with the regular array of shoes, recipes, and happenings returning next Monday. So for those of you who have a full cup this week, join me in getting it all done, enjoying life, & living it to it’s fullest.

2 :: The BIG Three-Oh – My husband is celebrating his 3oth birthday this week! THIRTY! Ha. I can hardly believe it. It make me realize that we’re moving into that next bracket of life…. Where things like kids and permanence start to become a reality. So very strange! D has a week full of celebratory dinners in store and we are headed to the black forest this weekend to indulge his adrenaline junkie personality as we’re going ziplining! No joke! I’m seriously psyched! So happy birthday week dear husband, may you still feel the youth I see everyday in your smiling face.

3 :: Blooming Weekend – D and I celebrated part of his birthday by indulging in his three day weekend. We hit a bloom/wine festival in Freinsheim as well as the opening of the Zweibrucken Rosengarten! It was a weekend full of outdoors and sunshine, perfect for my solar powered spouse. We even got to play chess on a giant chessboard and brush up on our frisbee game! So often I get bogged down in work and it was really nice to be able to go and see and do with the most important person in my life knowing work will still be there for me when I get back. Here’s a sneak peek of one of my favorite views this weekend. I have ALWAYS wanted to photograph an image like this and seeing it in person is like being in an ethereal dream. Any clients up for a photo session next week? This is the PERFECT location!

MONDAY

1 :: Patrick’s Day – I know you think I meant St. Parick’s Day… but in fact, I truly meant Patrick’s Day named after my oh-so-loved baby brother. For those of you who don’t know, my brother’s name is Patrick.  When he was young, my mother would celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as if it was my brother’s additional birthday, always with some sort of green cake involved. It was his day to feel special and loved. A day to feel like rock star just because you were named after a patron saint. My heart aches that I can’t be with him today in San Marcos, Texas to spoil him with green cupcakes and a six pack of Guinness. Luckily, said brother will be here in Germany with me in less than 60 days!!! Happy Patrick’s Day, PT…. May the day be filled with all around joy and merriment!

2 :: Spring Break – Speaking of my dear younger sibling, I was reminded that this past week was Spring Break for those in college and younger. I’ve only been out of college for five years now, but this year I am having a particular itch to travel right now. Imagine how delighted I am to discover it’s because it’s time for Spring Break! I have been at war with the ordinary as of late due to my husband being unable to take leave. He’ll start ALS soon and we still won’t be able to go anywhere for a lengthy amount of time. After a while, the days start to run together and you find yourself doing the same mundane things. I challenge you {and myself} to find curiously beautiful things in the mundane. I also encourage you to take this supposed “down-time” and use it to accomplish something great… maybe you’ve been wanting to take a calligraphy class? Or clean out your office? Or redecorate the guest room? Get on it! And make sure to open the windows and let the sunshine in!

3 :: WHBM New Arrivals – When I worked in the corporate world, White House Black Market was my closet personified. I have a particular soft spot for the shoes and am psyched to share their most recent line. It’s the colors that excitement the most. I’m HUGE on one brightly popped accent color and WHBM does it like no one else! Click on a shoe to take you shopping in their online boutique! You can also find {& follow!} my extensive shoe obsession list on Pinterest. 1) WHBM – Coral Pointy Toe Low Heel – $130.00 2) WHBM – Dot Slingback Low Heel – $120.00 3) WHBM – Studded Colorblock Heel – $130.00  4) WHBM – Contrast Heel – $125.00  5) WHBM – Caged Heel – $125.00 6) WHBM – Double Ankle Strap Heel – $125.00

4 :: Seeing Green – With St. Patrick’s day’s arrival, I’ve got shades of green on my mind… which of course is going to blur into the food I’m looking to cook. Maybe it’s the springtime weather, but I’m craving these deliciously crunchy greens. Due to the “no sugar in the house” rule recently reinforced, I’d kiss a leprechaun for ANY kind of sweet treat!  Click on a photo to take you to the food recipe. Don’t forget to follow my Yummay Board on Pinterest so you’ll never miss a recipe pick! 1) Orecchiette with Peas, Asparagus and Mascarpone 2) Parmesan, Rosemary and Thyme Shortbread 3) Grilled Pineapple, Chicken and Avocado Salad 4) Lemon Basil Whole Wheat Spaghetti with Spring Veggies 5) White Peach, Rose, and Basil Hand Pies 6) Gin and Tonic Cake

5 :: Instagram Pick-of-the-Week – Check out @littlemisspress! Located in Northern California, Little Miss Press is run by Bianca Mascorro who’s obsession with pretty paper products led her out of a corporate cubicle to creating the company of her dreams. I have been so obsessed with letterpress recently and Bianca satisfies my every whim with her beautiful invitations, business cards, and hand calligraphy. Bianca does offer calligraphy classes too, so if you live in the San Francisco area you’re in luck as there’s a Calligraphy 101 course on April 19th! I think Bianca rocks because: 1) she’s calligraphy obsessed, 2) there’s always IPA in her refrigerator & 3) her love for “pencils, pixels, paper and cast-iron” resonates with my soul! Be sure to check out her fabulous website and blog! Her work will add some serious sparkle to your day!

6 :: Blumen! – Last week I was able to head out on an Otterberg Adventure Day with J. Being in and around her life makes me happier for so many reasons… but I am always in awe of how connected she is to Germany. I always feel “more German” after hanging out with her. Her kids go to German school, she shops on the economy like I want to in my dreams, and is never hesitant to find a cool local shop to pop in and investigate. After picking her kids up from school that day {did I mention we walked to pick them up? Why take a car when you can enjoy the sunshine?} we stopped at the playground to let the little ones get their energy out. There was this beautiful fruit tree in full bloom at the park and while I still have to do a double take when  I see a blooming tree around here… the blossoms just make me so happy! So for your enjoyment I decided to share the blooms with you on this fine sunny monday to hopefully add some joy to your day!

Happy Monday Ya’ll!!! It’s my hope that Monday In A Moment brightens the beginning of your week so you can power through to the end!

MONDAY

1 :: Save the Daylight – This week is a weird week for those of us who live in Germany with family in the states as the US just went through daylight savings time. This means that instead of being seven hours in time difference from Texas, we’re now only six hours ahead. Germany doesn’t change their clocks until the 30th of March. Crazy right? Speaking of daylight, I am so beyond psyched that the sun is BACK! Even though it’s wreaking havoc with my sleep schedule, it’s super nice to wake up with the sun at 7:30 am! Look out Deutschland, we’re in for a beautiful spring!!!

2 :: Camera Tech Nerd News – My latest obsession is the new Sony mirrorless full frame camera the Sony A7R. I want it SOOOOO bad. This camera is packed full of shock and awe: 36.4 MP Full Frame Exmor CMOS Sensor, no optical low pass filter, multi-interface shoe, built in wifi and NFC.The .jpg image from this camera have been said to produce better detail and sharper quality than the Cannon 5D Mark III. My most exciting discovery is that Meta Bones makes an adapter for Cannon EF to Sony E  as well as Nikon G (& F) to Sony E that can be used on the mirrorless full frame A7R. This basically means that the lens options for this camera are infinite! Also did I mention I can still use my NEX 7 lenses with the APSC crop mode? EEEE!! I hope to be able to upgrade by the end of the year. To read the full review on the awesomeness of the A7R check out Gordon Laing’s full verict on cameralabs.com. Such amazing innovation… I can hardly wait!

3 :: Spring Stripes – Stripes are in this year! Which is a good thing, because they’re my favorite! 5 :: Crazy Kinds of Active – Dana and I went hiking this weekend due to the crazy beautiful weather we’ve been having lately. I was in a T-shirt for heaven’s sake and it’s only March 10th! This was by far the biggest hiking adventure we’d been on in our area…. we didn’t get lost exactly as we were high on a hill and could see  where we were in reference to home. It was more like we ran out of “path” and had to forge our own… which meant climbing through {me} and hopping over {D} barbed wire fences. I think we hiked for three hours yesterday and it felt AWESOME! I also cannot get over how the trees are already budding here and flowers are in full bloom! I leave you with some sunny photos to start your week off happy.

Happy Monday Ya’ll!!! It’s my hope that MIAM brightens the beginning of your week so you can power through to the end!
